WEBSHOP UPDATE: Closing After 20+ Years
JENNYOJENS shop is closing
Our final sale is now underway.
After more than 20 years of selling our prints, we've decided to bring the JENNYOJENS shop to its final chapter.
The final sale started in September 2026 and will run until our remaining prints are sold. Our creative work continues through our blog, photography, illustration and commissioned projects.
So why are we closing the shop in 2026?
Well, I could go off on a rant about the hustle of social media, but I will not. Because that is not the only reason. The shop has simply become less profitable and far more complicated to run.
Shipping costs have increased, tariffs and customs rules have changed, and selling across European borders means dealing with VAT in multiple countries. There are also more responsibilities around packaging, recycling and producer responsibility.
And I think that is a good thing. Perhaps it is a natural progression in a world of overconsumption.
But perhaps more importantly, the administration has slowly started to take up too much space.
The more time we spend dealing with orders, shipping, VAT, regulations and the general machinery of running an online shop, the less time and energy we have for the actual making.
And that matters.
We want to spend our time making images, not constantly producing things to sell.
For a large company, those costs and administrative demands may be manageable. For a small creative studio like ours, they eventually tipped the balance.
We've had a great run.
Around 2,000 people have bought our work over the years.
2,000 of the best, most beautiful and smart people, as far as we're concerned.
That's pretty insane to us.
Thank you.
We started selling posters when our daughter Viola was born. She is now 21.
Back then, the shop was handmade and coded with HTML and CSS. We didn't even have a smartphone, and we'd just bought our first professional digital camera, a Canon EOS 5D. I sold an old Hasselblad to pay for it.
The internet felt like the future.
We had a blog.
We found work through the internet.
We moved to the countryside.
It worked.
Starting our own print shop simply felt like the obvious next step.
So this isn't just a closing-down sale.
When we first started talking about closing the shop, we imagined doing one final sale, switching everything off and never thinking about it again. =)
Instead, we're documenting what happens along the way.
The first thing we did was make a screen recording of JENNYOJENS.se as it looks before closing; the homepage, the shop and the product pages, a little time capsule of JENNYOJENS in September 2026.
We'll see what else ends up on the blog as the final chapter unfolds.
We're photographing, filming and writing about the things we've made, the places we've been and the life around JENNYOJENS over the past 20+ years.
If not for us, then for our kids.
The shop will close for private sales later this year.
Wholesale and commissioned creative work will continue.
